Community Documentary

“We are designing the documentary in viral videos and podcasts format as we believe that we are speaking to a contemporary world audience as much as to Singaporeans. Singapore is really ready to go beyond ourselves and perhaps to take personal leadership roles in less-familiar territories such as community issues,” explained Khoo Peng Ean, Executive Producer/Director of ONE VOICE, on why the internet is chosen as the main communication platform. She continues, reflecting on who else could benefit over and above Singaporeans with Down Syndrome, “We believe much of our lessons and observations are also relevant to other communities, especially those in the region, who have yet to articulate the challenges surrounding Down Syndrome in their immediate communities. There are similar cultural sensitivities and barriers that are peculiar to South-east Asia that perhaps we need to sound out to world research and direction.”
